Francis Hanover
was born in Toronto, Ontario and
currently resides in Callander where she works as an artist.
Her work is described as non-traditional stylized form of African, and
Middle-Eastern subjects - primarily women – hence the term Afrocentric
which is often used to describe her work.
AfrocentricNorth
represents a non-traditional stylized form of
African, and Middle-Eastern art, the most prevalent subject being women. Fran’s
continuous advocacy for female empowerment, shape her work to reflect the
stories of women, their joy and their sadness. As well, Fran offers a large
collection of distinctive, one-of-a-kind greeting cards - each designed using
recycled materials to create unique women of joy.
Fran has been a contributing artist to the Kennedy
Gallery in North Bay, and Gallerie Encadrements Bourdages in Bonaventure
Quebec. In addition to her works as a visual artist she is an accomplished poet
and freelance writer.
