Francis Hanover was born in Toronto, Ontario and currently resides in Callander where she works as an artist.

Her  work is described as non-traditional stylized form of African, and Middle-Eastern subjects - primarily women – hence the term Afrocentric which is often used to describe her work.

AfrocentricNorth represents a non-traditional stylized form of African, and Middle-Eastern art, the most prevalent subject being women.  Fran’s continuous advocacy for female empowerment, shape her work to reflect the stories of women, their joy and their sadness.  As well, Fran offers a large collection of distinctive, one-of-a-kind greeting cards - each designed using recycled materials to create unique women of joy.

Fran has been a contributing artist to the  Kennedy Gallery in North Bay, and Gallerie Encadrements Bourdages in Bonaventure Quebec. In addition to her works as a visual artist she is an accomplished poet and freelance writer. Aquí viva a un artista!
